Pinterest; You're doing it wrong.

Okay, so maybe that title is a bit brusque especially for a first blog post, but I'm pretty aggravated. When you use Pinterest you are supposed to pin from the original source. I don't even know why you have the option of pinning with someone else's board as the source! What am I going to do with some little thumbnail that captures a tiny portion of the idea I want to recreate or even just one step in the process? I spend up to a half hour sometimes on one pin trying to track down the original blog. I don't want my pin boards to be a loose collection of unintelligible ideas. I want a big ol' pot of inspiration! Now, I don't think i'm going to change the world of Pinterest here or anything, but maybe if you see this you can take the extra second to make the site that much more enjoyable for others? I'd appreciate it and so would a lot of other people.

So now, for your viewing pleasure

Do

Pin directly from the blog or page where the idea originated or was found- No one wants to sit around hunting for the page that explains how do the cute thing they just saw, it should be as simple as clicking the proper link to be fully inspired
Pin a picture of the completed project- Pinning a random picture at step three of the process doesn't help anyone to see the wonderment that you saw when you learned how to turn a plain plate of potatoes into Michelangelo's David, if you pin the finished product and describe it as 'Look! Potato sculpture!' the idea is more likely to make its rounds
Pin the instructions- Is the project as simple as 'Add coloring, mix and bake'? If the instructions are simple, why not add them in the instructions instead of the usual 'This is great, so doing this!'

Don't

Pin from a board that pinned from a board that pinned from a board that.......- I already touched on this before, Pinterest is a community, why not make the day a little bit simpler for you internet neighbor?
Fill the description box with nonsense- The description box should at the very least have what the post is about at the front and foremost. While 'Who would have thought you can make sculptures out of potatoes!' does get the point across, 'Potato Sculpting Tutorial' is a lot more precise and therefore more usable not only for people on your boards but for yourself when you go back to actually peruse your boards.

I may update later, but just remember this isn't an attack, it's just some suggestions to make everyone's pinning days a little bit easier!
Thanks, Mama Sasparilla
